Give blood. Give a cancer patient time.

Why platelets matter

For cancer patients, platelets are often the difference

Chemotherapy and leukaemia stop the body making platelets — the cells that make blood clot. Without regular platelet transfusions, a simple nosebleed can become dangerous.

Platelets last only five days, so we can never stock up. That's why we rely on a steady stream of donors, and on a dedicated panel who give platelets by apheresis.

Join the platelet donor panel
Five-day shelf life

Platelets must be used within five days, so every week needs new donors.

Apheresis donation

One apheresis donation equals six to eight regular platelet units, from a single donor.

Every 48 hours

Platelet donors recover quickly and can give more often than whole blood donors.

Treatment on time

A ready supply means no patient waits for their next cycle of chemotherapy.
